How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions required varies depending on your condition and how you respond to treatment. Your physiotherapist will discuss this with you during your initial consultation and update you as your treatment progresses.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the area requiring treatment. For lower limb or back issues, shorts are ideal. For upper body issues, a singlet or tank top is recommended.
Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?
Absolutely! You're welcome to bring a friend or family member to your appointment for support or to help with communication if needed.
Will treatment hurt?
At Intrinsic Physio, we strive to make your treatment as comfortable as possible. Most physiotherapy treatments are gentle and should not cause significant discomfort. However, here are a few things to keep in mind:
When treating painful or tender areas, some hands-on techniques may cause mild discomfort. Our physiotherapists will always communicate with you and adjust the treatment intensity based on your feedback. We encourage open communication during your sessions. Always let your physiotherapist know if you're experiencing any pain or discomfort during treatment.
It's normal to experience some soreness for 24-48 hours after treatment. This is often a sign that your body is responding to the therapy and adjusting. If you experience persistent or increasing pain following treatment, please contact us immediately. We're here to help and can advise you on managing any post-treatment discomfort.
Remember, the goal of our treatment is to reduce pain and improve function, not to cause additional discomfort. Your comfort and safety are our top priorities at Intrinsic Physio.
What treatment modalities do you use?
At Intrinsic Physio, we employ a range of evidence-based treatment modalities to address various conditions and help our patients achieve their health goals. Our treatment approaches may include:
Manual therapy: Hands-on technique involves skilled manipulation of soft tissues and joints. Such as joint mobilisations to improve range of motion and reduce pain, soft tissue mobilisation to release muscle tension and improve flexibility, and massage to promote relaxation and improve circulation.
Home exercise programs: We provide customized exercise routines tailored to your specific needs, which you can perform at home to support your recovery and maintain progress between sessions. These may include strengthening exercises, stretching routines, and stability training to improve function and reduce pain.
Acupuncture: Dry needling and traditional Chinese medicine technique involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body to alleviate pain and promote healing.
Electrotherapy modalities: We may use various electrical stimulation techniques to manage pain and promote tissue healing.
Thermotherapy and cryotherapy: The application of heat or cold can help manage pain, reduce inflammation, and improve tissue elasticity.
Education and advice: We offer comprehensive guidance on injury management, posture correction, and lifestyle modifications to support your overall well-being.
Acute injury management: We provide immediate care and treatment plans for recent injuries to promote faster recovery and prevent complications.
Injury prevention strategies: We teach techniques and exercises to help you avoid future injuries and maintain optimal physical health.
Our physiotherapists will assess your condition and develop a personalized treatment plan using the most appropriate combination of these modalities to address your specific needs and goals.
